September is not only the month we return to school, but it is also the birth month of the great writer Roald Dahl. Born on the 13th in 1916, Roald Dahl went on to become a writer for both children and adults. At Varndean, we can think of no better way to celebrate the great writer’s birthday than with a visit to the library! Not only can students check out the Roald Dahl display and perhaps re-acquaint themselves with old friends like Matilda or even Mary Maloney, they can also browse our wide selection of books. Apart from being one of the best hobbies, research shows reading helps our understanding in subjects like Maths and Science! Staff at Varndean will continue to share what they are reading this year with ‘I am reading signs’. Parents and students are invited to share what they are reading by tweeting us @varndeanbooks
Celebrate Roald Dahl month with lots of reading – enjoy!
